Below are the requirements and tips for using the media downloads at ARCS.

System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Vista or Mac
  • 256MB of RAM or higher
  • A sound card
  • Speakers or headphones (if you want to play a movie or TV episode on your PC)
  • An internet connection (broadband recommended)
  • Microsoft Windows Media® Player version 10 and higher or Quicktime media player
  • Audio downloads are mp3 format and require compatible players
  • File size and hard disk space requirements vary

File Formats

  • Audio files are available in .mp3 format only.
  • Multiple audio files are compressed into .zip files. See “Playing Files” section below on how to unzip and use these files.
  • Video files are available in either .mov or .wmv. Check specific product downloads for availability.

Playing Files

Audio

  • MP3 files require a compatible player. There are many options available for both PC and Mac. The most commonly supported options are: Windows Media Player and iTunes.
  • Most audio downloads consist of multiple audio files compressed into .zip packages and will first need to be unzipped prior to playing. Free software is available via download for unzipping compressed files and can be found at the following address:

  • Once downloaded files have been unzipped, they will appear within individual folders which contain the multiple .mp3 files compatible with most players. Simply open the individual .mp3 files within your player and enjoy.

Download Times

File sizes can reach approximately 60 MB for some video files. Download times will vary based on file size chosen and your individual connection speed. Please be aware that some files may take awhile for complete download.

Downloading Files

You may begin downloading as soon as you finish the purchase by clicking on the "Download Now" button on your purchase confirmation page.

You may also download the files within 48 hours of purchase by accessing downloads user log-in with your e-mail address and the password sent in your confirmation e-mail. Then click on the "Download Now" button next to your purchased product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to start the download immediately after completing the checkout process?

No, you will have up to 48 hours from the time of purchase to download the media. You can begin downloading your file anytime within 48 hours after you complete your purchase.

What do I do if I deleted a movie by accident?

ARCS Downloads will provide you a single successful download of your purchased media within 48 hours of completing your purchase. Sorry, replacement files are not available for user deleted files. Please use caution, and back up your media files as you would any other valuable computer files.

I downloaded an audio file, now how do I listen to it?

First unpackage the .zip file, then in most cases double-clicking the file will open it within your registered media player. If this does not work, first open your media player and click: File » Open File. Then locate the file in question. For .ZIP files, see above section “Playing Files”

I downloaded a video, now how do I watch it?

In most cases double-clicking the file will open it within your registered media player. If this does not work, first open your media player and click: File » Open File. Then locate the file in question.

How do I cancel a download?

Once you have purchased a media download, there is no way to cancel it.

May I return a download?

Sorry, once you have purchased a media download, you may not return it.
